The Jockey Restaurant in Madrid was founded in 1945 by Clodoaldo Cortes. Putting to good use his extensive experience in the top restaurants of Madrid, Seville, Paris and Nice, he brought to the Jockey a love and life in gastronomy. The restaurant continues in the best traditions of offering the very finest traditional cuisine in the kind of classic environment for which the very best restaurants in the world are renowned. Fine dining is a rare pleasure and within Jockey a consummate fine dining experience is assured.
Fine dining is about the cuisine of course but it is also about the ambience and experience which best complements the menu. Once known as the Jockey Club, the Jockey Restaurant exemplifies all that grand air of a classic English gentleman's club. An equestrian theme is established through the art and sculpture which adorn the restaurant and give it its name, while the aristocratic elegance of the furnishings and decor maintain the high class theme. Fine dining in this restaurant requires formal attire and a neck tie will be provided should one be required.

The decor, curtains, mirrors, carpets and table settings of the seven dining rooms, set over two levels, continue the elegant ambience of an English country house where etiquette and custom are impeccably observed. General and private dining rooms can be adapted to the preferences and needs for groups from two to a hundred people. Cosy and intimate, or classical and luxurious, the service and attention to detail is observed to the same high standard.
If the classical environment and ambience of Jockey set the scene for some fine dining then the menu cements its reputation for time honoured classical excellence. The cuisine on offer is not hindered by fad or fashion but borne from creating traditional food using only the very highest quality fresh ingredients available. Traditional certainly, and with notable French influences, the menu at jockey fits seamlessly into the fabric of the establishment. Enjoyed by royalty and celebrity alike, traditional cuisine has never been so contemporary or so well received.
Grand old country houses and estates were known for their hunting and fishing and the products of both formed the basis for many an aristocratic banquet within the hallowed halls of regal residence. The menu in Jockey upholds the same traditions in game and fish dishes, perfectly suited to the ambience and character of the restaurant.
When it comes to fish and seafood, seabass is a particular speciality, expertly incorporated into a selection of mouth-watering dishes. Other favourites include seafood stuffed lettuce parcels, and raw prawns a la caviar. Game and meat dishes include rack of lamb provencal, and partridge with wild mushrooms. There are also puff pastry dishes and tripe too, representing a faithful homage to the finest traditions of classic cuisine.
The wine cellar at Jockey is stocked with an incredible and sophisticated selection of wines, cava, champagne, brandies and liqueurs. More than 700 wines are available, including the popular house wine, a 2004 Rioja vintage.
Such is the quality and reputation of Jockey and the cuisine that external banqueting has become an important facet of the business. Expert professional catering for business events, celebrations and grand state affairs is supplied with all the care and dedication for which the jockey has become so renowned. A complete service is provided, both technical and personal and any special dietary requirements can be easily incorporated.
