The tasca, or tavern, itself dates back to the 19th century and has all the traditional and authentic features which define such classical Madrid establishments. Opened since 1974, Casa Lucio retains the hand crafted wooden beams and a polished bar, which provide an aesthetic appeal certainly but also play host to many antiquities and provide a hanging spot for foodstuffs including a selection of cured hams in the typical traditional style. At ease with its traditional character, Casa Lucio manages to use this as a backdrop to a standard of high end dining which can match any top restaurant in the city.

During a state visit to Spain by then American president George W. Bush, his wife Laura enjoyed the food and hospitality at Casa Lucio in the company of Queen Sofia. This is typical of a restaurant which has a place in the hearts of many famous national and international clients. While a diner today may consider rubbing shoulders with European and world aristocracy as a surreal experience, it is all part of the charm, appeal and effect Casa Lucio displays with effortless ease.
The clientele, who come to Casa Lucio for the great food and warm ambience, return to the restaurant as friends. Head of the house, Teodoro Martin ensures all the care and attention which defines personal service, while head of the kitchen Aurelio Calderon selects only the finest quality ingredients for which the menu at Casa Lucio is so revered. Lucio himself, his family, and staff invite diners to spend some quality time enjoying the cuisine and ambience of a true blooded Madrid family restaurant.
Casa Lucio has two dining rooms, each situated on a different floor. The whitewashed walls, exposed brickwork and tiled floors lend themselves well to the character of the space and the highly trained and attentive staff will ensure all guests make the most from the menus and the experience.
The menu at Casa Lucio is typically Castillian. Suckling pig, roast lamb, sizzling thick steaks are all popular, honest and wholesome soul-food dishes but if the restaurant is famed for one dish it is Huevos Estrellados, or broken eggs, a modest authentic speciality served with potatoes. Jamon Serrano is also popular as is Salmorejo, a gazpacho, topped with grated ham. Fish and seafood provide excellent alternatives to the classic meat dishes. Options include hake in green sauce, and shrimp in garlic. The traditional and wholly authentic Spanish menu at Casa Lucio is certainly a key draw for all those famous clients.
A superb selection of Spanish wines is available to complement any meal and for the perfect dessert nothing beats the tarte de la casa, made with biscuit and vanilla cream. The restaurant is ideal for business lunches, celebrations and for intimate dining for two, particularly in the downstairs dining room. Open for business every day for lunches and dinners and Saturdays for dinners only, clients are expected to dress smartly, but above all to immerse themselves in the classic Castillian ambience of an authentic high quality family restaurant.
